We're recruiting an Archivist

PART TIME ARCHIVIST

 

Two year contract. Eighteen hours per week

£25,000 p. a. (pro rata)            

Loughton, Essex

 

The National Jazz Archive, a registered charity, holds the UK’s finest collection of printed and visual material on jazz, blues and related music from the 1920’s to the present day. Founded in 1988, it has assembled a world-class collection for use by students, researchers, the media, music enthusiasts and the general public and engages in a range of projects, exhibitions and other outreach activities.

 

The Archive now seeks a dynamic professional Archivist to develop the way we deliver our services on site and digitally and to help build our collections and diversify and expand our reach.

 

Preferred candidates will be qualified Archivists, ideally with experience gained in archives, libraries and the arts and oral history. You should have an understanding of copyright legislation and digital preservation and proven ability to work on your own initiative. You will also have the ability to work as part of a team which includes our Research Archivist, our Volunteer Organiser and volunteers. You will be expected to work closely with and report to the trustees. A good knowledge and appreciation of jazz will be useful. Proximity to Loughton will be an advantage.

 

The post is due to commence October 2018 and will run for a period of two years.  You will be working Monday and Wednesday 10.00 – 17.00; Tuesday and Friday 10.00 – 13.00.
